DEMING — The Lions swept past the Mounties (25-14, 25-9, 25-14) on Wednesday for their fourth straight victory.

Senior Isabelle Jacob managed 15 kills, 15 digs and three aces while senior Abi Broussard had six kills for Lynden. Sophomore Savonne Sterk contributed 14 digs, four blocks and four kills. Junior Kyla Bonsen had 30 assists on the night.

Blaine 3, Meridian 1

LAUREL — The Trojans lost their fifth game in a row (each against one of the top five teams in the Northwest Conference) on Wednesday, falling to a good Blaine team in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 19-25, 17-25).

Sophomore Jolee Sipma had 12 kills, 10 digs and two blocks for Meridian. Senior Kyrin Baklund managed 10 kills, nine digs and an ace while junior Chloe Olsen put up a .333 hitting percentage. Junior Bailey Gardner contributed 26 assists, 11 digs, three kills and three aces.

Lakewood 3, Nooksack Valley 0

EVERSON — The Pioneers lost to the Cougars on Wednesday night, snapping Nooksack Valley’s three-game win streak.

Sedro-Woolley 3, Mount Baker 0

SEDRO-WOOLLEY — The Cubs swept past the Mountaineers on Thursday, as Mount Baker remained winless on the season.

Baker (0-11, 0-10 NWC) is at Bellingham on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. before hosting a tournament in Deming on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

Lynden 3, Nooksack Valley 1

LYNDEN — After dropping the first set, the Lions came back to beat the Pioneers on Thursday as Lynden continued its winning ways (24-26, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13).

Senior Isabelle Jacob had 23 digs, 16 kills and four aces to lead Lynden. Senior Abi Broussard managed nine kills and seven aces; freshman Faith Baar put up seven kills; sophomore Savonne Sterk contributed 18 digs and six blocks; and sophomore Robin Scarlett added 14 digs and seven kills.

Senior Katrina Gimmaka had eight kills, three aces and two blocks for Nooksack in the loss. Senior Nicole Whittern managed 22 digs.

Lynden (7-3, 6-3 NWC) entered Tuesday’s home match against Lakewood (for results, see www.lyndentribune.com) on a five-game winning streak. The Lions are at Sedro-Woolley tonight and host Squalicum on Monday with both games starting at 7:15 p.m.

Meridian 3, Nooksack Valley 2

LAUREL — The Trojans beat the Pioneers in a key battle between Class 1A Northwest Conference programs. The match was as close as can be as Meridian survived in five sets (25-18, 14-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10).

Leading the Trojans was sophomore Jolee Sipma with 15 kills, 13 digs, seven aces and five blocks. Senior Kyrin Baklund added 23 digs, 12 kills and an ace while junior Carli Vandenhaak had 20 digs. Sophomore Makenzie Flake put up seven kills and junior Bailey Gardner contributed 36 assists and 22 digs.

Meridian (4-7, 3-7 NWC) was at Sehome on Tuesday (for results, see www.lyndentribune.com). The Trojans host Anacortes on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. before playing in Saturday’s Mount Baker Tournament in Deming.

Nooksack Valley (4-8, 3-7 NWC) hosted Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday (for results, see www.lyndentribune.com). The Pioneers are at Squalicum on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
