SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Lynden fell in the district championship game 2-1 to Sedro-Woolley after a riveting pitchers dual on Friday, May 19.
Lynden's Trinity Andrew was fantastic in her six-innings pitched. She only allowed five hits, three walks and one earned run while striking out four.
Unfortunately for the Lions, Sedro-Woolley's starting pitcher Kasandra Gonzalez was electric on the mound. She struck out 10 batters, allowed five hits and no earned runs.
Sedro-Woolley claimed the district championship and improved their overall record to 20-3.

Despite the loss, Lynden still has a spot in the state tournament because they made it to the district championship. The seeding committee meets on Sunday, May 21, to decide where the teams will land in the tournament.
Lynden head coach Ed Bomber said it was a great effort by their kids and he could not be more proud of them.
"Our girls have come a long ways and we are really proud of them," Bomber said.
Sedro-Woolley scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning on a Lynden throwing error. Sedro-Woolley held a 1-0 lead until the fifth inning.
Lynden was getting the bat to the ball, but they struggled to capitalize when they had runners on base.
Sedro-Woolley tacked on their second run in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded Sedro-Woolley's Lola Wylie grounded out to Andrew. Instead of throwing home to get the force out, Andrew threw to first and Lynden relinquished an unnecessary run. It was the first earned run Andrew had allowed in three district games.

"The moments are big, we missed that moment. Hopefully next week, we will seize that moment," Bomber said.
Sedro-Woolley had a 2-0 lead and scoring opportunities were becoming scarce for the Lions.
Lynden fought back in the top of the sixth with a late run. Anderson singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. With Anderson on second, Grace Potter stepped to the plate and sent a line drive into left field for an RBI double.
Lynden just missed tying the game after Potters's double. Childrey DeJong was the next batter up and she sent a liner at the third baseman for an out. She was just a couple of feet off from sending it into the outfield. The next Lynden batter was sat down and they went into the bottom of the sixth trailing 2-1.
Lynden had one more opportunity in the top of the seventh with runners at the corners, but Campbell DeJong grounded out and the game concluded.

Regardless of the loss, Lynden showed a lot of fight against one of the elite teams in the Northwest Conference.
Bomber said, "For this group of girls to come back, I could not be happier for them. They have really put in some time and developed and stepped up. We made it interesting, both ways, good and bad," Bomber said.
Lynden will have their first game of the state tournament on Friday, May 26, in Selah.
