GIRLS BASKETBALL 

Lynden Christian 54, Meridian 34

LAUREL — Leading by just three points at halftime, Lynden Christian (5-0, 2-0 Northwest Conference) dominated on both ends of the floor in the final two periods of the game to ultimately beat the Meridian (4-1, 1-1 NWC) by 20 points on Friday. 

For the Lyncs, junior Isabella Hernandez scored a game-high 15 points. Sophomore Riley Dykstra added 10 points. Seniors Avery Dykstra, a recent Western Washington University basketball commit, and Sam VanLoo, a commit to Northwest University in Kirkland, and junior Grace Sterk all added six points. 

Meridian was led by 11 points from senior Ellesse FitzGerald. Senior Kyrin Baklund and sophomore Jolee Sipma each had six points. 

Lynden Christian next plays Kentlake at the ShoWare Center in Kent on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. Meridian plays at Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. 

Nooksack Valley 49, Blaine 32

EVERSON — Nooksack Valley (4-1, 2-0 NWC) continued on its strong start to the season with a convincing victory over the Borderites on Friday. 

The Pioneers were led by senior Katrina Gimmaka's 25 points. Freshman Maya Galley added nine points while jenior Jenna Tenkley had seven points. 

Nooksack hosts LaConner on Saturday at 5:40 p.m. 

Ferndale 54, Mount Baker 41

FERNDALE — Mount Baker (3-3, 1-1 NWC) saw its three-game winning streak come to an end with a road loss to Ferndale (3-3, 1-1 NWC) on Friday. 

Baker was led 13 points from junior guard Danielle Tyler. Ferdnale's Rylee Weg also scored 13 points. 

Mount Baker next plays Vashon Island at Blaine High School on Dec. 27 at 5:30 p.m. 

BOYS BASKETBALL 

Lynden Christian 77, Meridian 52

LAUREL — Lynden Christian (6-0, 2-0 NWC) had little trouble with Meridian (0-2, 0-2) on Friday. 

Junior Cole Bajema scored a game-high 22 points for the Lyncs. Meridian was led by 14 points from senior Simran Parmar. 

The Lyncs host Seattle Christian on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Trojans play at Kittitas on Friday, Dec.22, at 6 p.m. 

Ferndale 79, Mount Baker 42

FERNDALE — Mount Baker (4-2, 1-1 NWC) couldn't keep up with a high-flying Ferndale team on Friday. 

The Mounties next are at Lakewood on Tuesday at 4 p.m. 

Nooksack Valley 50, Blaine 28

EVERSON — Nooksack Valley (3-2, 1-1 NWC) was mostly dominant against Blaine on Friday. 

Leading the Pioneers with 18 points was senior Casey Bauman. Sophomore Zach Johnson added 16 points. 

Nooksack hosts LaConner on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
