Ferndale and Lynden at Blaine’s Battle at the Border
BLAINE — Ten Ferndale boys wrestlers and two Lynden grapplers placed top-6 at the annual Battle at the Border wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday at Blaine High School.
The Borderites, Golden Eagles and Lions were the only local teams competing in the event that featured about 15 schools from around the state.
Placers for Lynden were: senior Bodie Human, an all-state football linebacker, second at 170 pounds; Elisha Kok, fourth at 113 pounds.
Ferndale placers were: Matthias Prenosil, fourth, 106 pounds; Austin Merwin, fifth, 106 pounds; Cristian Becerra, third, 113 pounds; Chris Coballes, fifth, 120 pounds; Andrew Finsrund, fifth, 126 pounds; Ethan Vanderheiden, second, 132 pounds; Tahj Fortune, fourth, 145 pounds; Thomas Broselle, fifth, 145 pounds; Fischer Drury, third, 160 pounds; Tyler Demorest, sixth, 195 pounds.
