Meridian and Ferndale tie for most players on first and second team with four

WHATCOM -- The 2021 All-Northwest Conference volleyball teams have been released, as voted on by the coaches. 

The Golden Eagles had the most on the first team with three: seniors Kaelee Bungard, Avery Schneider and Alyvia Semu. Junior Brooklyn Cagle made the second team. Ferndale took third in the 3A State Tournament on Nov. 19.

Meridian's Shannon Claeys took home coach of the year, as the Claeys-led Trojans placed third in the 1A State Tournament on Nov. 13.

The Trojans also were tied with Ferndale for the most total players on the list with four a-piece. Seniors Finnley Claeys and Malaysia Smith each made the first team. Senior Jolena Hoefer and junior Avery Neal made the second.

Lynden sophomores Grace Rice (first team) and Ashley Shumate (second team) each made the list, and Nooksack Valley junior Hallie Kamphouse and sophomore Lainey Kimball both made the second team.
