WHATCOM — Two women were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from a two-car crash on southbound Interstate 5 in Bellingham the evening of Saturday, July 6.
The Washington State Patrol reported that Shannon Hofer, 23, was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta north in the southbound lanes of the freeway at about 11:27 p.m., and also that alcohol or drugs are considered to be a factor in the crash.
The Hofer car struck head-on a 2013 Honda Civic driven southbound by Ryann Lacey, 22, of Bellingham, at about milepost 252.
Both drivers, who were wearing seatbelts, were taken to Harborview, and both vehicles were considered totalled, the patrol said.
The cause and any charges to be filed were still under investigation on Sunday.
