LYNDEN — Two local service clubs have announced their high school senior scholarship recipients in this coronavirus-impacted school year.

The Lynden Lions Club will give $1,000 scholarship each to Brock Heppner and Jonathan Garfia, both 2020 graduates of Lynden High School.

Heppner is headed to Western Washington University in secondary education while Garfia will attend the University of Washington studying accounting.

The Mount Baker Rotary Club gives out 25 scholarships at $1,500 each for a total of $37,500 in academic assistance. Usually the recipients are all convened for a group photo at the Rotary Building, but not this year.

These are the Rotary winners:

  Lynden High School — Allie Sahagian, Brenna Vander Yacht, Brock Heppner, Jonathan Garfia, Grant Heeringa, Ruby Vander Haak, Hannah Roorda and Taylor Simonson.

  Lynden Christian — Jackson Corkill, Brooklyn Bosman, Isabella Almlie, Levi Korthuis, Willem Faber, Tressa Merrill, Elijah DenBleyker and Nora TerBeek.

  Meridian — Aurya Downey, Emma Forbes and Hailey Gallatin.

  Cornerstone Christian — Shanna Leyenhorst.

  Mount Baker — Adelaide Haddock and Kali Cook.

  Nooksack Valley — Braden Leyba, Evan Sorenson and Jasmin Harmon.
