WHATCOM ­— Another investigative retelling of the solving of the Stavik murder case is presented on the CBS television program “48 Hours” this Saturday, Nov. 30.

  The local case that went cold for 29 years came to a conclusion with the conviction of Timothy Forrest Bass in Whatcom County Superior Court last May. Amanda T. Stavik was the 18-year-old Mount Baker High School graduate who disappeared while out jogging on Nov. 24, 1989. She was found dead in the Nooksack River three days later..

  “Mandy Stavik: The Case No One Could Forget” will be broadcast at 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, on the CBS Television Network.
  Correspondent Peter Van Sant and his team especially focus in on two mothers whose shared instincts about Stavik’s killer helped break open the case, starting in 2013.
