SeaMar named Whatcom’s Apparently Successful Vendor 

OLYMPIA — The Washington Health Benefit Exchange on July 1 announced the Apparently Successful Vendors (ASVs) chosen to oversee the free in-person assistance available to Washington Healthplanfinder customers signing up for health and dental insurance plans for coverage year 2020.

The entities are public health agencies, regional health networks and community organizations.

This year’s open enrollment period for Washington Healthplanfinder begins on Nov. 1 and ends on Dec. 15.

For Whatcom County, Sea Mar Community Health Centers was chosen.

Since the Exchange first went live in 2013, the uninsured rate in Washington state has fallen by greater than 60 percent to sit at its lowest-ever level (5.5 percent). More than one in four Washingtonians use Washington Healthplanfinder to connect with health insurance coverage, including 200,000 QHP enrollees and 1.6 million Medicaid recipients. Following its first six years of operation, the Exchange now makes up 80 percent of the state’s individual market.

Reminders: Enrollment is offered year-round to individuals and families through Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Customers enrolled in Apple Health will receive a notice of 60 days before the month they enrolled in or renewed their coverage last year.

Washington Healthplanfinder is an online marketplace for individuals and families in Washington to compare and enroll in health insurance coverage and gain access to tax credits, reduced cost sharing and public programs such as Medicaid.
