WHATCOM — The Opportunity Council’s Energy Assistance program is now open and setting appointments to help people prepare for next winter’s energy bills.
Appointments can be made for the Puget Sound Energy Home Energy Lifeline Program (PSE HELP) and the Cascade Natural Gas Washington Energy Assistance Fund (CNG WEAF) by calling 360-255-2192. This assistance can be used as a credit to pay for future energy expenses.
Scheduling remains open until all available slots have been filled.
To see if you qualify, call the Energy Assistance Scheduling and Information Line at 360-255-2192 or 1-888-586-7293 Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Walk-ins cannot be taken.
If you are facing disconnection or are disconnected with PSE or CNG, also make contact as crisis appointments may be available.
The Opportunity Council is a private community-action nonprofit serving Island, San Juan and Whatcom counties. Since 1965 it has provided programs that “help people, change lives,” including housing, energy assistance, early childhood education and child care resources.
