The Re-Use Center is a new Whatcom County business that sells used building materials. But the center is turning its attention to help rebuild people who were affected by the Whatcom flood.

Tragically, Jose Garcia passed away during the floods, and his family had to deal with that while fighting to save their home as well.

When the Re-Use Center reached out to help his family, the idea of helping 100 families in Garcia’s memory came up.

Help the Re-Use Center spread the word that owner Dave Bennink has committed to giving away 100 x $100 gift certificates to families that might need doors, cabinets, lights, roofing, lumber or other things that were damaged or destroyed in the floods.

Perhaps they need some temporary heat or a window to keep the cold out.

Families must have experienced flooding this year and are asked to provide a ‘wish-list’ of items they are looking for on our website, reusecenter.net.

Those contractors or others that would like to donate building supplies may do so by visiting reusecenter.net or emailing reuseinnovationcenter@gmail.com.

The Reuse Center already provides affordable building materials to Whatcom County residents from our warehouse on the Mt. Baker Highway, but we need your help spreading the word about this relief effort.

Contact Dave Bennink at 360-733 1363 with any questions.
