WHATCOM — A passenger in a pickup truck died in a 6:15 p.m. crash Sunday, June 9, at the corner of Slater and Red River roads, the Washington State Patrol reports.

Alcohol or drugs are considered to be a factor in the crash as investigation continues.

King A. Solomon, 42, of Bellingham, was the driver of a 2004 Ford F350 that was southbound on Red River Road. Solomon failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, lost control and rolled the truck twice prior to it hitting a power pole, the patrol said.

The passenger who died was Robert M. Zollner, 30, also of Bellingham. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Both driver Solomon and another passenger, Robert N. Solomon, 25, were injured and taken to St. Joseph hospital. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt; the passenger was.
