LYNDEN — The Lynden School Board will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, to interview interim superintendent candidates and possibly announce an interim selection.

Jim Frey, superintendent for the past 11 years, is resigning effective June 30. The school board decided in April to use executive-search company Northwest Leadership Associates to head up the process of finding a replacement superintendent.

The meeting will be in the board room on the 516 Main St. campus. People can attend in person if they follow requirements of wearing a mask and keeping six-foot distancing. Room capacity may force using an overflow area.

To listen in via phone conference, phone in to 1-253-215-8782 or 1-408-638-0968 and follow the prompts. The meeting ID is 831 8937 2651, and the Passcode is 640800.

According to an agenda sent out by the school district, up to 90 minutes is allowed for interviewing superintendent candidates in executive session, and then  decision is possible in open meeting.

The school district is not saying who or how many are up for consideration for interim superintendent, but will announce the choice if a selection is made.
