Tribune is also cooperating on a July 24 Lynden city candidates forum 

WHATCOM ­— The League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County invites all citizens to attend upcoming election events to learn about the candidates running in the 2019 primary election. All candidates in these local races have been invited.

The location of the first two forums is Syre Auditorium on the Whatcom Community College, campus, on Kellogg Road, Bellingham.

These are the first two:

  • Tuesday, July 16 (doors open at 6 p.m.), at 6:30 p.m. the race for Ferndale mayor, and at 7:20 the race for Bellingham mayor.
  • Saturday, July 20 (doors open at 9 a.m.), at 9:35 a.m. for 40th Legislative District Senator; at 10:25 a.m., for Whatcom County Council At-Large; at 11:10 a.m., for Whatcom County Council District 4; at 11:55 a.m., a lunch break with the candidates; at 12:45 p.m., for Whatcom County Council District 5; and at 1:30 p.m., for Whatcom County Executive.

The league is also working with the Lynden Tribune to co-host a forum of Lynden City Council candidates starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in City Hall Annex, 205 Fourth St. in Lynden. Details are being developed.

Primary election day is Aug. 6, 2019.

In Washington State, voters do not need to declare their political party to vote in the primary election.
