Volunteers help Lynden Schools run smoothly. The district thanks the many volunteers across all the buildings — including these volunteers who created gingerbread houses for a recent kindergarten project — for their investment in the lives of Lynden students.
Bernice Vossbeck kindergartners recently had a mystery to solve when a gingerbread man seemingly took off and went missing. The students tracked clues across the school to find the wayward cookie and located the gingerbread man inside the office of principal Michelle Nilsen.
Lynden Academy teacher Vanessa Gunderson teaches parents about the K-5 writing process.
• Bernice Vossbeck Elementary had 46 scholastic books purchased by their families for their teachers’ classrooms during the Scholastic Book Fair which ran from Nov 17-22. Thanks to the parents who supported the teachers and student reading.
• Elementary schools participated in the Lynden Tribune’s Design an Ad contest. The district had several winners from all three schools, and those ads were printed in the tribune on Nov. 16.
• Students from all three elementary schools participated in the final mile as a conclusion to the Marathon Club that ran through the fall. There were about 200 gold medals given out to the participants.
