The first Freedom Rally and Parade was planned during COVID-19 in summer 2020 by Lynden-area friends Julie Beld Anderson and Rachel Hernes. The purpose was to support the local business community. This year’s Freedom Rally, on July 4, offered live music, food trucks, and a handful of brief speeches by political candidates. This was followed by cars and trucks, many decorated with signs and flags, drove on a route around Lynden. (Elisa Claassen for the Lynden Tribune)
