Company now seeing steady growth, with two separate divisions
LYNDEN — Faber Construction, one of Whatcom County’s largest general contractors, moved this month to a larger Lynden headquarters that will facilitate future growth.
Faber Construction, owned by Rick and Debbie Faber, now is located at 6951 Hannegan Rd., just a quarter-mile north of East Pole Road and across Hannegan from the company’s equipment and staging yard. A two-story, 7,200-square-foot building was extensively remodeled before moving into it.
The business has been growing from its start in 1987. This move is from 131 E. Grover St. in Lynden.
“We’ve steadily evolved and expanded since our initial focus on agricultural construction,” said Rick Faber, company president. “With success building hotels, schools, apartments, roads and bridges, Faber Construction has become a fully integrated company and has more than doubled our number of employees in eight years to about 120.”
The company’s notable projects nearing completion include: a five-story, 116-room La Quinta hotel in Marysville; 14 townhome units for Skagit County Housing Authority in Burlington; and the 11,000-square-foot Salish Village Travel Center in Ferndale.
While Faber Construction has performed site work and built custom homes for many years, it has now created two divisions that focus on those two areas. The earthwork division was started in 2009 to offer both public and private site work, including general site prep, roads and utility projects. The residential division, West Coast Homes, specializes in both spec and custom homes and was added in 2011.
The company’s revenue rose to approximately $45 million in 2019, fueled by growth in its new industry sectors as well as investments in technology and equipment, Faber said.
“I attribute our success to our faith and an incredible team,” Faber said. “Many of our crew members have been with us for years, providing quality and stability for our clients.”
The public will be invited to an open house at the new headquarters later this year when the current pandemic crisis eases.
