EVERSON — A 20-year-old Everson man has been charged with the murder of his mother's former husband.

At 11:40 p.m. Thursday. Everson Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Pioneer Court for an assault with a weapon.

Everson Police Chief Dan MacPhee told the Lynden Tribune on Friday that "an adult female called and stated that her adult son had shot her ex-husband."

Although details of the shooting are still under investigation, the son, whom MacPhee identified as Ethan Knight, was taken into custody and booked into the Whatcom County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.

MacPhee explained that Everson Police at this time are not releasing the victim's name or any information regarding other residents of the home. He also said that Whatcom County Sheriff's Office is the primary investigating agency, working with the Everson Police Department.

No other details of the incident are being released at this time.
