He has taught there 20 years, has a focus on team building
LYNDEN — Tim Doering, who has taught at Isom Elementary School for more than 20 years, has been named its new principal, effective this summer.
Current principal Patrick McClure will be leaving after this school year to serve as the director of education at Christ School Bundibugyo, a boarding school in Uganda, Africa.
Doering was one of four finalists for the position among 10 total applicants, Lynden School District Superintendent Jim Frey said.
“He did a nice job in all parts of the interview,” Frey said. “He brings a positive culture for students, family and staff. The focus on team building and relationship building [set him apart].”
In a press release, Frey said Doering’s strong relationship skills and focus on a student-centered culture is what will best meet the needs of students at the school.
Frey said applications for the job were accepted for four weeks and the entire hiring process took about two months.
Isom, one of three K-5 schools within the Lynden district, has an enrollment of approximately 515 students.
