WHATCOM — The county’s Marine Resources Committee seeks motivated community members to join as advisors to county government in addressing local marine issues and leading boots-on-the-ground projects to protect marine resources.

Four-year terms are open for the following positions: two of economic interests, one of scientific interest, one of recreational interest and one citizen at-large.

Applicants should be able to show awareness, experience and/or affiliations with marine and shoreline-related activities, organizations or businesses. Of particular interest are familiarity with water quality issues, communication skills, maritime trades or marine-related businesses, restoration/conservation experience or an education focus. 

The committee meets the first Thursday of the month from 5 to 7 p.m. in Bellingham. Applications are being accepted until positions are filled.
