WHATCOM — County Comprehensive Plan and code amendments relating primarily to Cherry Point are the focus of a town hall meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12. The meeting of the Planning Commission will be in the County Council chambers of the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Ave., Bellingham. 

Specific topics are fossil fuel and renewable fuel refineries, storage, transshipment facilities, piers and other related facilities in industrial zones, whether at Cherry Point or elsewhere.

The proposal also includes Whatcom County SEPA amendments, major project permit amendments, definitions, insurance provisions and greenhouse gas emission analysis and mitigation requirements.

All are invited to attend this meeting to speak on these issues.
