LYNDEN — With just a few weeks to go until opening day of the Northwest Washington Fair, the Fair Board of Directors has brought aboard Selena Burgess and Jim Baron as a co-management team to help oversee the final preparations for the 2021 event.
Burgess is taking a temporary leave from the board to fill the position.
Chris Pickering took over as CEO in 2020 to succeed Baron after his 16 years as fair manager.
“This was not a decision that we took lightly,” Fair board president Nate Kleindel said in a message Monday to association members. “Ensuring that we put on a successful Fair that our Association needs and our community deserves and has looked forward to for two years, is our number one priority. Chris Pickering’s focus will be on the entertainment and marketing efforts as we countdown to opening day.”
This year’s fair will be the event’s first 10-day run. It will take place Aug. 12-21.
