WHATCOM — “Sight unseen, Kyle Brennan eager to start as Illinois State’s new athletic director” is the headline of a Dec. 24 post of The Pantagraph of Illinois State University.
The named Kyle is a son of Terry and Marce Brennan of Lynden and a 1993 graduate of Lynden Christian High School.
The younger Brennan, 45, is currently the University of Utah’s chief operating officer and deputy athletic director for internal operations. He begins at ISU on Jan. 15, succeeding a retiring Larry Lyons.
Brennan has never been to Bloomington-Normal (possibly because of a certain pandemic going on), The Pantagraph reports. However, when he found out about the opening, he wanted the so-called Twin Cities of Illinois to be his new home, and applied.
“I saw it from a distance for a long time and it’s a perfect opportunity,” said Brennan.
