WHATCOM — Zorganics Institute Beauty and Wellness of Bellingham is offering more than $300,000 in tuition scholarships over the next two years for anyone seeking to start or advance careers as cosmetologists, barbers, estheticians, manicurists, master estheticians and massage therapists.
The scholarships include $100,000 this year and $100,000 in 2022 in BIPOC Scholarships, which will give $10,000 apiece to 10 students each year. The scholarship is open to students who have applied and been accepted to enroll in Zorganics Institute in the cosmetology program and who identify as black, indigenous or persons of color (BIPOC).
Zorganics Institute also is offering 40 scholarships of $2,500 apiece to graduating high school seniors. These scholarships may be used in 2021 in any of the programs: barbering, cosmetology, beginning and master esthetician, manicuring and massage therapy.
Zorganics Institute, located in Bakerview Square at 410 W. Bakerview Rd., No. 112, is directed by Frida Emalange, who has operated salons and day spas in Bellingham and Bellevue since 2001.
”Our principles are based on a holistic approach to beauty, health, wellness and overall well-being on an individual level,” Emalange said. ”The COVID-19 pandemic has financially affected many people who have a passion to serve others, so the scholarships will help them establish good careers in cosmetology, barbering and esthetics.”
