Brian Evans as Director 3 passed April 12
LAUREL — The Meridian School District has a vacancy on its school board due to the passing of one member, the district announced Tuesday.
Brian Evans, who was in Director District 3, died on April 12.
It means the Meridian School District is now seeking applications for this school board vacancey. An individual will be appointed to fill the position through Dec. 31, 2020, and will be replaced on Jan. 1, 2021, by the individual elected in the Nov. 3 election.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a registered voter living in Director District 3 of the Meridian School District. This district is the largest of four, mostly east of the Guide Meridian and south of east Axton and Smith roads. Interested persons must submit a letter expressing interest in the board position and their qualifications for it to the district office no later than 5 p.m. June 10. Apply to: Superintendent Dr. James Everett, Meridian School District, 214 W. Laurel Rd., Bellingham, WA 98226.
Interviews will be during the Wednesday, June 24, school board meeting, starting at 7 p.m., location to be determined. Appointment of the new board director is expected to occur that same evening.
Not all candidates for the board vacancy will be interviewed.
