NEWBERG, Oregon — Local students were among those who earned dean’s list (3.5 GPA or above) recognition at George Fox University for the fall 2020 semester.

Honorees were: Bellingham — Andrew Chandler, junior, politics major; Emma Forbes, sophomore, exercise science; Ashley Lingbloom, junior, social work and sociology. Lynden — Cam Oliver, senior, theology; Ashlee Van Den Top, senior, exercise science; Brenna VanderYacht, junior, psychology and sociology.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Cedarville University recently released its fall 2020 Dean’s Honor List (3.75 GPA or higher), and Kelsey Matthews of Lynden is listed.

DEKALB, Illinois — Northern Illinois University announced its fall 2020 Dean’s List (minimum 3.75 GPA) students, and Kevin Galiano, locally a graduate of Meridian High School, was on the list, with a marketing major.

SPOKANE — Several  undergraduate students from Whatcom County achieved Provost’s Honor Roll status (3.75 GPA or better) for the fall 2020 semester at Whitworth University.

GREELEY, Colorado — Nathan Robey of Bellingham received his doctorate in sport and exercise science from the University of Northern Colorado at the end of the fall 2020 semester. Due to COVID-19, commencement ceremonies in December were virtual.

Robey is already a classroom support technician in Health and Human Development at Western Washington University.

 

OREGON STATE UNIV.

CORVALLIS, Oregon — Students from Whatcom County made the Scholastic Honor Roll (3.5 GPA/B+ or better) for the fall 2020 term at Oregon State University.

They include: Bellingham — Jason Bauck, senior in natural resources; Jesse Brown, junior in tourism, recreation and adventure; Ella Carpenter, sophomore in environmental sciences; Tyler Paulson, senior in energy systems engineering; Ferndale — Derek Chen, senior in business administration.

 

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY

SPOKANE — Thirteen Whatcom County residents earned placement on the Gonzaga University Dean’s List (3.5 to 3.84 GPA) for fall semester 2020.

They include: Bailey Harkness and Brooke Harkness, both graduates of Mount Baker High School; Dawson Phillips, a Meridian High grad; and Michael Bernard and Hunter Shaw of Ferndale.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The University of Utah had more than 9,700 students named to its fall 2020 Dean’s List (GPA of 3.5 or higher). They included: Bellingham — Linh Ta, chemistry major; Ferndale — Guyan Cool.

WATERTOWN, South Dakota — Adam Sytsma of Everson, Washington, is named to the President’s List (GPA of 3.5 and higher) at Lake Area Technical College

BOISE, Idaho — Katie Dougan was named to the Highest Honors Dean’s List (GPA 4.00) and Emma Dougan was named to the High Honors Dean’s List (at least GPA 3.86) for the fall 2020 semester at Boise State University.

Katie is a graduate of Lynden Christian High School, Emma of Meridian High School.

SEWARD, Nebraska — Two from Whatcom County earned graduate degrees after the fall 2020 semester at Concordia University.

Both Katey Hartsock of Bellingham and Krisula Reardon of Ferndale earned Master of Education degrees.

 

MIAMI UNIVERSITY

OXFORD, Ohio — Mike Massey of Blaine was among more than 1,000 students who received degrees from Miami University during virtual fall commencement on Dec. 11, 2020. Massey earned a master’s degree in biology.
