A public hearing with the Lynden City Council has been scheduled for November 18, 2019. Under Lynden Municipal Code 17.09.100, the final decision for this project must be made within 120 days from the date of the letter of completeness. LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT FLOOD HAZARD OVERLAY AND THE PEPIN CREEK SUB AREA PLAN

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Lynden Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and will be taking public input regarding the following topics:

Description of Proposal: The City of Lynden is proposing to amend the Comprehensive Plan to revise the future land use map to accommodate revisions to the Pepin Creek Sub Area Plan. The City is also proposing to amend LMC 16.12 and to establish a new Chapter 19.56 regarding a Flood Overlay Zone. The purpose of the overlay is to recognize and manage the flood hazards which occur under certain environmental conditions in this area.

In addition, the Commission will also be taking public comment regarding the Pepin Creek Subarea (PCSA) Plan. The plan has been established to meet the goals of Lynden’s Comprehensive Plan by considering the long-term development of the Pepin Creek Subarea. The draft plan, initially issued in September of 2018, is being brought forward for approval with some recent revisions. The Sub-area plan does not identify a specific solution for the Pepin Creek realignment.

A public hearing with the Lynden Planning Commission has been scheduled for November 21, 2019. Be advised that once a hearing date has been established all property owners within 300-feet will be notified via certified mail which will outline the dates of the public comment period prior to the hearing.
