WHATCOM — The League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County invites the public to attend two remaining election events to learn about candidates appearing on the 2019 general election ballot.
This year, the League effort is expanded to include contested races in the cities of Ferndale, Lynden and Bellingham as well as countywide races.
These are upcoming:
- Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ferndale High School, 5830 Golden Eagle Drive, the candidates for Ferndale Mayor; City Council Positions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7; and Whatcom County Council District 5 (Coastal).
- Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Lynden City Hall Annex, 205 Fourth St., the candidates for Lynden City Council Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4, and Whatcom County Council District 4 (Farmland).
All candidates who appear on the ballot for these races have been invited. The format is a moderated forum of answering questions from the audience as well as from the moderator for the League.
General election day is Nov. 5, 2019. Voters may register or update their voter registration by visiting https://voter.votewa.gov. Contact the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office at 360-778-5102 for assistance.
The Lynden Tribune and The Northern Light newspapers are media sponsors for these forums. The City of Bellingham provided recording and broadcast support for the first two forums. Robert Clark from the Center for New Media will provide recording support for the latter two forums.
