Ted Lautenbach passed away on Saturday, March 20, after a long battle with the coronavirus.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1945, and immigrated to the United States in May 1947 with his family. He was a 1964 graduate of Nooksack Valley High School. In July 1965 he joined the U.S. Army, serving for three years, including a tour in Vietnam.
Ted and Diane were married in May 1967. Their children are Mike (Suzie), Darin (BJ) and Lisa (Brian); granddaughters Kim, Rachelle, Samantha (Nathaniel), Rebekah and Ava); and great-grandchildren Alexis, Emmitt and Jackson.
One of the joys of his life was volunteering to help others. He was a member of the Guatemala mission team at church. Ted and Diane were directors of the Nooksack Valley Food Bank for six years, and also for the Sumas Bull-a-Rama. Another passion of Ted’s was having the children, grand- and great-grandkids over to spoil them.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Bryce Creek Campground.
Memorials may be made to the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church Guatemala Mission team fund or the Nooksack Valley Food Bank.
