Sally J. Dodds

 Sally J. Dodds, 85, resident of Avamere, Bellingham, WA, passed into her Father’s loving arms on July 14.

  Sally was born in Salem, MO in 1936 to Elliott “Edgar” and Geraldine (Jacobs) Bixler. She was a cheerleader, trio singer, and HS actress during her high-school years and Miss Salem (MO) in 1954.

  Sally married Edwin D. Dodds, in Salem, MO in 1955 and together they raised six children and enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

  While Edwin was keeping the shores of America safe as a fighter pilot, major, in the USAF, Sally kept her place at home as wife and mother; as well as an active member of the Officer’s Wives Club.

  After Edwin retired from the USAF, Sally opened a small university café and the Ye Old North Pole ceramic shop in the Lewis Clark Valley. Sally was also a lifelong, gifted painter and poet.

  In 1973 God made Himself known to the couple, and their lives changed forever. Sally was a well-loved and respected member of Cloverdale Bibleway for 38 years.

  Sally is remembered in love by her five children: Diana (Claude) Sigman, Vicky (Jay) Heavin, Leisha Akers, Eddie (Zaida) Dodds, and Sally (Mark) Powell, 17 grandchildren, 18 g-grandchildren; 1 gg-grandchild, and countless friends and extended family members.

  A private interment is to be held July 28 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Please join us Thursday, July 29  for a Celebration of Life at 6 p.m. at Sonlight Community Church, Lynden, WA; Tom Rae officiating. The service will be live streamed at :

  She will be missed, but it’s not “Goodbye” just “Until”… 2 Timothy 4:7-8. We’ll see you in the rapture.
