Ronald N. Pilon, age 72, passed away on Jan. 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for three years.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in Lynden to Jacob and Gertrude (VanderTuig) Pilon. He attended Lynden Christian Schools from kindergarten through high school. He met Josefina (Jo) Salas in 1967 at Draper Valley Farms and they were married on Feb. 23, 1968. Ron was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church of North America, worshipping at the Olympia CRC since 1974. He provided for his family as a dairy farm milker for 17 years, running his own small business (Ron’s Semen Supply) for 12 years and then as a commercial truck driver for 18 years before retiring.
In retirement, he devoted many hours to serving his church and its furniture bank, as well as helping to run his and Jo’s small business (Fina’s Salsa). Ron loved traveling in his RV, spending time with his family, and visiting with his friends at church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Gertrude Pilon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Josefina Pilon; sons Chris Pilon (Mary), David Pilon (Juanita), Sam Pilon (Joey) and Andre Pilon; four granddaughters (Jacqueline, Nikole, Cecelia and Mallory) and three grandsons (Jakob, Harrison and Tyler); brothers Stan Pilon (Wilma) and Gene Pilon (Dawn); former foster son Tim Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, for family only due to COVID-19 restrictions but will also be streamed live online at the Olympia Christian Reformed Church Facebook and YouTube channels.
The family expresses sincere thanks for all the prayers and support during this time.
