Michael DaWayne Ammons, 60, passed away peacefully at his Lynden home on July 2, 2020.
He was born in Sedro-Woolley on June 24, 1960, to parents Carl “Bud” Ammons Sr. and Sharon Sue Ammons. Mike attended elementary school with his siblings in Clear Lake before moving to Lynden in 1970. He attended Lynden Middle School and Lynden High School with the class of 1978.
He moved to Santa Clara, California, and lived there several years honing his craft of making people laugh and dabbling in salesmanship. He returned to his hometown of Lynden to be near extended family. Soon after, he married Pamela (Ammons) and welcomed his only child, daughter Talesha.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; stepfather Don Saunders; grandparents Mabel and Jack Stewart and Emma and Frank Moore, all of Clear Lake; and a baby sister, Carole Jean Ammons.
He is survived by his brother, Carl “Bud” Ammons Jr. and wife Keri of Lynden, sister DiAnna Kleindel and husband Mark of Alger, sister Michelle Montoya and husband Eli of Sedro-Woolley; daughter Talesha Ammons of Lynden; grandchildren Jaidyn, Ryleigh and Axl Ammons, all of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike enjoyed sitting on the porch on a warm sunny day laughing and reminiscing with friends and family or just admiring a freshly mowed lawn. He had a soft spot for stray cats and an affinity for old classic cars. In his younger years he was a sharp-dressed jokester with a quick wit and a handsome smile. He had a knack for mischief balanced well by his love of God and his warm heart.
He will be honored and remembered as a beloved son, brother, father and friend at a private service at Greenwood Cemetery south of Lynden on Saturday, July 18, 2020.
Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
