Maribeth Vanderpol

  Maribeth Linda (Booman) Vanderpol died at the age of 90 in Lynden on Oct. 1.

  She was born to Albert and Florence (Gerfen) Booman on April 24, 1931, in Lynden. She graduated from Lynden High School in 1949, then continued her education at WWU in Bellingham.

  In 1951 she married Marvin Vanderpol, the love of her life for 70 years.

  Mari’s career included raising four kids, working in a variety of retail stores, and finally working with Marv at Bay Lyn Glass.

  Mari was a strong supporter of Marv’s activities at Lynden Christian School, particularly in the drama department where Marv directed plays and musicals.

  She was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club and Sonlight Church.

  She had wonderful memories spent traveling with Marv to various places around the world, with family and friends in yearly fishing trips to Heffley Lake near Kamloops, BC, sailing in the San Juans, and being a part of many family activities. She touched the lives of those she met by showing God’s kindness, love, and care. She had an amazing gift of hospitality and her warm welcome to the many social functions she hosted is remembered by many.  

  She is survived by her siblings Keith Booman and Sarah (Booman) Lewis; children: Linda (Vanderpol) and Bill Vandersys, Steve and Carol (Enfield) Vanderpol, Brian and Joani (Meyer) Vanderpol and Larry and Candie (Ackermann) Vanderpol, 32 grandkids, 31 great grandkids, and three great, great grandkids.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, who was born 15 days before her and died 15 days before her.

  In death, as in life, they were together.

  She was also preceded in death by siblings Karen (Booman) Dodson and Glen Booman.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Sonlight Community Church, 8800 Bender Road, Lynden on Oct. 8 at 11 a.m.
