Donna Joyce Timmer, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021. She was known for being a patient wife, kind and loving mother and grandmother.
Donna was born on the Lynden family farm on Dec. 24, 1938, to parents John and Pearl (Stremler) VanMersbergen. She grew up in Lynden and graduated from Lynden Christian School.
Donna worked for Star Market and then the Lynden Auction Market. She began her banking career at National Bank of Commerce and moved on to Peoples Bank as a teller. She retired in April 2003 as a loan processor after 30 years in banking.
Donna was a lifetime member at Third Christian Reformed Church where she enjoyed Bible study and women’s groups. She was a devoted grandma and looked forward to attending the grandkids’ activities, camping and fishing. She was known for her dahlias and passing that love on to her daughters and granddaughters.
Donna is survived by her children Dan Timmer, Brenda Timmer, Ronda Timmer and Kevin (Stephana) Timmer; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by brother Sherwin (Carolyn) VanMersbergen, brothers-in-law Dennis (Marilyn) Timmer, Ed (Grace) Timmer and Darrel (Karen) Timmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; brothers Lewis (Toots) VanMersbergen and Marv (Carol) VanMersbergen; sister-in-law Raylene Timmer; and her parents.
You are invited to visitation at Gillies Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15. A graveside committal will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in Third Christian Reformed Church of Lynden.
