Dorothie (Dee) Culver is 100 years young! A birthday celebration will take place on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Anacortes. Dee was born on Oct. 18, 1918, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Grant and Edla Moore. She is a longtime resident of Whatcom County who was involved in the dairy business and as a state dairy princess chaperone. She is also a talented fabric artist and oil painter. Dee was married to her husband, Clifford Melvin Culver, for over 50 years before his passing. Her children are Larry and Virginia Culver of Bothell; and Linda and Richard Nelson and Diana and Jerome Bakkom, all of Anacortes. She has four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Dee attributes her long life to a youthful heart, keeping busy and befriending young people.
