WHATCOM — Barron Heating & Air Conditioning recently created two $5,000 scholarships that can help people obtain family-wage jobs in the building trades without incurring significant education debt.

The Dan L. Barron Trades Scholarship, named after the company founder, provides opportunity to those looking to enter the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical or plumbing trades and begin a successful career journey. One of two scholarships to Bellingham Technical College is open to a community member, the other to a current Barron employee or family member.

“There is no obligation to future employment with Barron Heating to receive these scholarships — it is simply our way of encouraging and building up the ever-important and rewarding trades field,” said John Barron, owner. His father, the late Dan Barron, founded Barron Heating nearly 50 years ago.

Applications may be made at www.barronheating.com/scholarship/ now through Jan. 31, 2020.

Barron Heating, with about 150 employees, has locations in Ferndale (5100 Pacific Highway), Burlington and Marysville and serves the northwest Washington region.
