WHATCOM — Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Business Person of the Year awards, to be announced at an evening dinner event on March 27, 2019.

Continuing a tradition of 33 years, with the public’s help, Business Pulse magazine and the Whatcom Business Alliance will recognize deserving businesses and business people for their success and contributions to the civic vitality of the community.

Who left an indelible imprint on the business and economic landscape in Whatcom County during 2018? And who has done that over a lifetime career as a Whatcom business leader? Go to the WhatcomBusiness- Alliance.com website to nominate.

This is the longest-running awards event in northwest Washington, begun in 1986 for recognition of excellent business achievement. These are the awards and criteria for the nominations:

Business Person of the Year — Any leader in Whatcom County from a business or organization, either private sector or nonprofit, who represents business success and community impact.

Lifetime Achievement Award — Any person representing long-time contributions to business success and community prosperity in Whatcom County.

Small Business of the Year — Any successful business of fewer than 100 employees.

Start-Up of the Year — Operating successfully and opened for business on or after Jan. 1, 2016.

Nominations must be  submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28.
