Demolition of the 106-year-old building at 401 Front St. started this week, closing the Fourth Street alley between Front and Judson. This project involves supporting a wall that conjoins with that of neighboring Dutch Mothers Restaurant. Originally a brick building now clad in stucco, this site was for much of its life the Star Market grocery that, into the 1960s, took phone orders from customers and then delivered to homes. Now owned by the city, the site was determined to be unfit for occupancy over a year ago.
