Grace Kooiman

Grace Kooiman was born on April 20, 1919, to Walter C. and Dena (Vugteveen) Kooiman in Lebanon, Iowa. She attended Rock Valley Christian School.
  Grace died peacefully at her home in Rock Valley on Jan. 14, 2010. She was 90 years of age.
  Grace was united in marriage to Albert “Bert” Voetberg on March 27, 1941, in Rock Valley, Iowa. Together they lived in Orange City before moving back to Rock Valley where Grace was a homemaker. Bert died July 10, 1993. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church. Grace enjoyed crocheting, sewing, traveling with Bert and visiting with many friends.
  Grace is survived by one son, Harlan (Carol) Voetberg of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one daughter, Deanna “Dee” (Howard) Van Beek of Lynden; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Jennie (Marinus) Maassen; and three sisters-in-law: Helen Scholten of Rock Valley, Marian Kooiman of Seminole, Fla., and Grayce Kooiman of Rock Valley.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bert; brothers Herman “Doc” Kooiman and Cornelius “Koik” Kooiman; and sister Elizabeth Kooiman and infant sister Pearl Kooiman.
  Funeral services were held on Jan. 18, 2010, at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with interment at Valley View Cemetery.
